As early as possible especially if travel is to a popular destination If you want a good price on your airfare and you are going to a popular travel destination then you had better book early. If you want to go to Florida, for example for Thanksgiving, then flights should be booked early in the year. I can still remember clients calling in August, September, October and even in November and wanting a "cheap" fare to someplace in Florida for Thanksgiving and then being upset by how much they had to pay or that they couldn’t get the flights they wanted.
Sometimes you can luck out but it is better to be safe than sorry. Other holidays trips to popular destinations also need to be booked in advance. I had many clients who would go to Europe, mostly London, for Christmas and getting a good fare could at times be a challenge.
Fortunately most of my clients who went over to London were going to spend the holidays with family and they knew to book early. I always go away during the Christmas holidays to visit family but not someplace warm and desirable. Last year for some reason I held of booking our airline reservations until the end of October.
Getting a good airfare became a challenge fortunately I was able to salvage our airfare by flying into one airport and out of another. Since cars should match up with your flights it is always to book your car reservations at the same time. If you can book a hotel in advance without incurring a cancel/change fee then there really is no reason to not book your reservations early.
Just like with airline reservations if you are heading to a popular destination (Disney World) during the holidays then you had better book far in advance. If by chance the hotel you want is not available check on it periodically sometimes rooms become available; I’ve had that happen to me a few times. Book early . . .
Or book late. Don't get caught in the high-priced middle. Book early, or book late.
One important thing to realize about hotel stays, cruise cabins, and airline tickets is that they are a perishable commodity, like bananas at the supermarket. If an airplane takes off with an empty seat, a cruise ship sails with an unoccupied cabin, or a hotel goes a day with an empty room, those are dollars (or pounds or Euros or rubles or pesos) that they will never earn. Someone may book a later date but that doesn't help the company.
Now, you are correct to be concerned about travel during the "high" season to a particular destination. For example, high season in the Caribbean or Florida tends to be from December through March when weather is cold in most of the U.S. , Canada, and Europe. Travel providers know this, and they set their prices as high as they can get away with.
But here are two secrets, if you are able to be flexible: 1) If you book your trip very early you may find some great deals, especially on non-refundable or non-cancelable reservations. (Buy trip-cancellation insurance to protect yourself. ) 2) Wait till the very last minute and book a trip from a travel provider that is facing the prospect of a loss of their perishable commodity.
There are websites, like www.lastminutetravel.com that specialize in this sort of booking, but you can also check regular travel sites like www.expedia.com or www.travelocity.com. You can also check the websites for airlines and cruise lines. And you can also call some travel agents and ask them for last-minute deals.(I always recommend doing your own research before calling an agent; give them your business only if they offer something better than what you can find for yourself.) Have your bags ready (and your passport up to date if you're going to leave the country) and pounce on a great deal from a company that would rather get just a bit of money from a traveler instead of no money at all.

Holidays/vacations I usually decide one day suddenly, when I'm feeling bored at work and then book something up as soon as I can, usually for two weeks time. Maybe i’m too much of a pessimist to book in advance just in case something happens to me, but then if it did I wouldn’t have anything to worry about anyway. Call it insurance maybe....Kim .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
