How is Gene Therapy Done?

Gene therapy is an experimental way of using genes to treat or prevent disease caused by mutations in a single gene. Usually a normal gene is inserted into the body to replace an abnormal one causing disease. Researchers continue to solve the problem of getting the gene into body tissues where it is needed.

The FDA has not yet approved any human gene therapy product for sale.
