Depends on how its been stored I assume we are talking about either B&W or Color paper for use in a darkroom/wet lab. If its paper for a computer printer it does not expire. But if its darkroom paper, it really will vary.

The 2 most important things that will affect it are light, of course, and heat. I have some paper in my fridge that is well over 10yrs old, as It was given to me from a friend that stopped doing any wet lab work(in the late 90's) and he was moving and saw it in his garage fridge and offered it to me. (it could be close to 15-20 yrs old) I have used it and it is still great!

If it has not been kept cold, it again will vary on the maker of the paper. Fiber paper is more sensitive than RC paper is. I try to keep mine and my film all in the fridge as I know then they will last until I need then, and since Kodak stopped making their HEI IR film, the last true InfraRed film on the market, I have a stash set up in my fridge to last me a while.

I would say if its kept at a reasonable temp, not too hot, Several years. The best way to check it is to just take a sheet and run it thru the developer, stop and fixer and see how it looks. Or even try printing on a portion of it and see how the tonal range is.

That is the best way to check it out, and I normally take a 1/3 or 1/2 sheet and do an exposure test on it and at the same time look for the tonal range to make sure it looks good and is not all locked up. Hope this helps. Good Luck and have fun.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
