As far as I know half moon stance or hangetsu dachi is only found in HANGETSU KATA . Perhaps in your dojo or ryu the step is into hangetsu but in shotokan it's into kiba dachi horse stance in which case there are 3. More.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
