I would say that was about right, if you could get on at a Darden(Red Lobster,Longhorn,Macaroni, etc) Restaurant you would make even more....but it all depends on giving GENUINE service. Customers feel it when you are just there because you have to be, and they will tip you for warmth, humor and the feeling that you really want them to have a special dining experience. You have to develop the ability to read people, some like quick, silent, professional service, while others like you to interact and behave in a more friendly manner.
Anyway, best of luck to you,I've worked in everything from fast-food to Fine Dining and Wines for 20 years and have always made pretty great money for the hours,I'd rather worked really hard for three or five hours and have the rest of my day for the same or more than those riding the 8-9 hour days. Another thing,be sure to ask about any "Tip Share" program they may have, you could see $50 or more of your sweat earned tips going to lazy expediters and busboys, bartenders.
It depends on what part time is. That is like asking what does it cost to buy gasoline in an average month.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
