It is worth exactly one HK dollar, unless there was a mistake in the minting. Pre 1997 coins ARE STILL legal tender in HongKong, I have used them myself. Only pre WWII money is no longer legal.
Edit........@ MHG, there may very well be a court ruling, but, I know of no incidence where pre handover money was refused by any shopkeeper.
It is worth nothing. It is technically still legal tender even though Hong Kong is no longer under British rule but shops in Hong Kong are getting increasingly picky about accepting coins. A court ruling in 2010 upheld the rights of shopkeepers to refuse coins or banknotes if they wish, regardless of their nominal status as legal tender.
If you do manage to get a shop to take it, it has a value of 13 US cents. As a collectible piece, unless it is completely uncirculated it has no value.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
