Although it sounds odd, if you are trying to grow your hair it is still important to have the ends trimmed regularly. You would need to do this around every six to eight weeks. Hair grows at about half an inch per month, so explain to your hairdresser that you want to grow your hair and you only want a light trim.
The reason why you need to do this is because as I'm sure you know, hair can split when the ends get dry, when this happens the the ends can break off quite a long way up the hair shaft which will have the effect of shortening the hair. Dry split ends also look very unattractive, so talk to your hairdresser and she will help you keep your hair in good shape while you grow it.
