Old timer talkin... The pro’s are: (1) You feel good for some unfathomable reason. Maybe from the endorphins released then you’re in pain. The cons are: Almost everything else.

Having a tatoo in a visible place identifies you to be of a certain social and economic class. That gets you into some places, but keeps you out of others. Like it or not tatoos are associated, somewhat unfairly, in many people’s minds with low-class, low-income, low-self esteem, and low morals.

Employers in particular are likely to make a snap judgement about you if they see a tattoo. They’re probably thinking "If they did that to their body, what are they going to do to my office equipment and customers? " Also It’s somewhat rare, but you can get allergic reactions, infections, or scars from a bad batch of ink or unclean instruments.

Not likely, but possible too are catching Hepatitis and/or AIDS. Otherwise okay.

The pros would be enjoying a piece of art you would like to have on your body, or fitting into a group of people who have the same type of art. The cons are the attitudes some people have about tattoos, and the fact that if you change your mind later it can be quite expensive to remove them, and painful, from what I hear.
