How to access [www.hulu.com Hulu]? I am a non US citizen. Any tricky ideas? ;)?

I've had good luck faking my IP address with Tor: torproject.org Tor hides your identity by routing your traffic through multiple computers in different countries. Unfortunitely, because it is designed to hide your identity, using it to access Hulu will not be ideal because it will be slow and you might have to adjust some things every time you want to load a page (more on that next), but it will definitely work. First, download Tor using the website above.

If you use Firefox, you could get the torbutton extension, but since I don't use that myself, I can't give you instructions on how to use that for Hulu. You can try to figure it out yourself, otherwise get the standalone client. Once you have downloaded and installed the client (if your using torbutton, try to adapt these instructions for that instead), configure your web browser to access the web through Tor.(Follow the instructions at the website, otherwise get the client bundled with Firefox, which will come pre-configured).

After you have configured your web browser, check to see that you have done it correctly here: check. Torproject.org If the web browser you are using Tor with doesn't already have Flash, make sure you install it now. Once you have Tor up and running, its time to configure it to have your connections comming from the US.

On the Tor client, click "View Network". You will now be looking at a window with with a world map and a list of servers on it. Directly under the world map are two areas.

The one on the left is a list of the Tor circuts your traffic is going through, and the one on the right displays the computers in that circut.(It will be empty if nothing is selected). Each circut consists of three computers. Click on the last circut in the left area.

The right area should display the information for the three computers in that circut.(If it has less than three, then the circut is imcomplete.) Scroll to the last one in the right field. That computer is where your data requests are comming from. If it is not in the US, then right click on the last circut in the left area under the world map and click "Close circut".

Wait for it to build a new circut, consisting of three computers.(If it takes a long time, then just close that one too. ) Repeat until the last computer is in the US. When it is in the US, then go to the web browser and go to hulu.com.As its loading, check that your connections are comming from the circut that is ending in the US.

(Its usually the last one, but for some reason not always). If your connections are indeed comming from the US, then you should have full access to Hulu. Unfortunately, it will probably take a long time to load videos, as connections through Tor are very slow.

Also, if Tor add another circut while you are browsing Hulu, you may need to repeat this process again if Hulu starts to reject you again. Its not the best solution, but if nothing else works, this will. Good luck and feel free to leave a comment if you need help.

Quote 1. The easy way to bipass hulu is throught HotSpot Shield , its a free internet security suit that encrypts and protects inbound / outbound Internet traffic (email, instant messaging, VoIP calls, web surfing, etc.) by creating a virtual private network.

Thus hiding your actual location to a USA based IP as HotSpot Shield is its self for USA only. For Internet anti-censorship. It enables users inside countries with heavy Internet censorship to visit any public web sites in the world safely and freely. It automatically connects to the fastest possible US proxies. You can also set it up to route only one browser (IE for example) or tunnel other traffic such as BitTorrent.

Quote The information I have here I found online.

You can use anonymous proxy servers. "A proxy server is a kind of buffer between your computer and the Internet resources you are accessing. They accumulate and save files that are most often requested by thousands of Internet users in a special database, called “cache”.

Therefore, proxy servers are able to increase the speed of your connection to the Internet. The cache of a proxy server may already contain information you need by the time of your request, making it possible for the proxy to deliver it immediately. The overall increase in performance may be very high.

Also, proxy servers can help in cases when some owners of the Internet resources impose some restrictions on users from certain countries or geographical regions. In addition to that, among proxy servers there are so called anonymous proxy servers that hide your IP address thereby saving you from vulnerabilities concerned with it. " For IE browser: Tools Internet options Connections LAN settings and pick an IP for the country you want to access and configure under proxy server.

Mahalo now has a guide that will help you gaining access to Hulu and other regionally restricted sites like Pandora. Check How To Access Hulu From Outside the US for information on how to install and use HotSpot Shield.

We're overseas and can't get Hulu or the network sites through Hotspot Shield. We've been using surfthechannel.com for pretty much everything. A lot of their links are through megavideo so we ended up getting a subscription but it was well worth it.

Good luck!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
