If you really want to avoid explicit loops and algorithms in general (not just std::accumulate ), you could use std::valarray s instead.

If you can't use explicit loops, perhaps your teacher is asking you to use recursion.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
