How to convert passive speakers to active to be used in a PC Home Theatre System?

The direct realistic answer to your question is no. However, I would investigate a few other options... 1) You say that the DVD ROM drive is busted, but that won't affect plaback of your PC sound if you can route it through the surround system. So the question here really is does the old surround system have an INPUT or AUX INPUT that you could push the PC's audio into?2) If your current surrond system doesn't have an Aux input then you could perhaps find another inexpensive powered surround sound system that did and use it with your current speakers.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
