How to fix a Touch n Go Digital garage door remote for Overhead Garage Door We have two garage doors and remotes for each that we keep in our respective cars. Inside the house we use a Touch n Go Digital remote by the Overhead Door Corp. It has two buttons and is programmed separately for each garage door.
Recently the digital dual remote quit working for ONE garage door, but works ok to operate the second garage door. We checked the battery and the program codes, all is ok. When we hit the button it gives a slight buzz, as usual, but the garage door does not open.
What could be the problem with this dual remote? - half of it works and the other half does not - (The remotes inside the cars still works ok and the buttons inside the garages operates ok too. ) Asked by gh47 41 months ago Similar questions: fix Touch Digital garage door remote Overhead Garage Door Home > Home Improvement.

1 Swap the code for the other door to the other button. If it doesn't open that door, you have a bad remote. I'm thinking that Genie makes Overhead's controls.
You can google it and find a replacement. This user has been banned from Askville.

2 gh47: I want you to take everything I say with a grain of salt here--because I don't have that garage door or any of it...and could be wrong--but let me take shot at it.1. The fact the motor buzzes when you push the button proves the button works--as you said2. At a guess, the problem sounds like the mechanical stop inside the motor, (if it has one) where the two wires are squashed together to turn the power off--when the doors have opened or closed completely.(another way of saying--I don't think the wires are separating (probably a small copper strip) as they should when starting the door or stopping the door.
This internal switch probably leads the internal electronics to 'think' the door is either fully closed or fully open.3. That or a solenoid (I don't remember if that's spelled correctly) is not activating.4. Finally, consult the above post by boatman.
Sorry I couldn't help more. BYE!

Gh47 replied to post #1: 3 I did what you suggested - and got the dual remote (the one we keep in the house) to work with a new code. Now the second remote (the one we keep in the car) won't accept the new code. In fact the car's remote won't accept any code now.
What's the chance of the solenoid going bad just because we messed with it? (you don't have to answer that) The battery causes the lights to glow, no sound though. The manuals just say to change the codes to match. It does suggest just changing one or two of the slots, maybe it is programmed to break down as a security measure, if messed with.
I'm going to the internet to search for the manufacturer. Thanks for the help.

Gh47 replied to post #2: 4 Fixed it. Manufacturer pointed me to the LEARN button on the controls, which I missed before, and instructions were not in the operating manual.

Be creative! " "RE: Garage door opener light...." "Should I repair or replace my garage door opener?" "Should we replace the garage door or get it fixed" "Garage Door locked" "How much is it going to cost me for a new garage door in Sacramento, CA" "My electric garage door won't close" "How much does it cost to get a garage door repaired? " "we replaced the batteries on my remote and still the garage door will only open when we are about 20 feet from the door.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
