These are some tips on how to raise caterpillars: To find caterpillars you must look at the right places. There are different type caterpillars that are found on different plants. 1.

Look for a plastic container with a cover. Punch holes in the cover or lid of it using a nail or a knife. Place water on the container and cover it.

Take some host plants you have cut and push them into the holes. Be sure to cute the ends of plants at steep angle and also take any other insects off the plants for this can harm your caterpillar. 2.

Put your caterpillar on the plant and refill the container with water if it gets low. Cut any of the lower leaves so none of them are in the water. 3.

Purchase a yard of netting from a fabric store and drape it over your plant. Place it securely around the base of the container with a rubber band. There are also some pre-made caterpillar house which you can buy from the stores.Be sure to have your caterpillar fresh, healthy leaves to eat.

Clean the cage often and remove frass or feces at the bottom of the cage. If your caterpillar get big and looking for a place to pupate, put stick on your cage so they can pupate there.
