Actually you should not expand it. That makes it harder. All you have to do is set each part of the equation to 0 so 3x=0 divide both sides by 3, x=0 1-x=0, add x to both sides, 1=x 4x+5=0, subtract 5 from both sides, 4x=-5, divide both sides by 4, x=-5/4 so x=0,1,-5/4.
