How would I get a free logo/icon for my blog, maybe free peer to peer guidance on how to style it? It's wordpress, self hosted?

Try putting a listing under 'Gigs' on craigslist. Put details in the description about what you are looking for, and let your potential designers know that while you can't provide compensation, you will credit their design work on your blog, so they will get free exposure plus something for their portfolio. I guarantee if you were to do this, you'd have all kinds of graphic design students and amateur designers coming out of the woodwork to help you out with something.

They would probably be more than willing to help with consultation on the blog styling as well if you credited them for it too.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
