I have a problem....I abhor vegetables and some fruits. I would love to have a healthier diet and lose weight this way but I literally gag and choke whenever I eat vegetables (lettuce, celery, tomatoes, uncooked carrots, green beans, peas, pretty much anything). I see pictures of dishes and recipes with veggies and they look really appetizing but if I were to have that food in front of me I would not be able to eat it.
I'm sure it's a psychological thing, but I'm not sure where it comes from. I'm also on a limited budget and don't have the money to see a therapist. I have heard some stories about some forms of hypnotism.
Would it be worth it to be hypnotized into liking veggies? Does hypnotism in a broader sense really work? Asked by Iluthien 54 months ago Similar questions: Hypnotism eating habits Food & Drink > Cooking.
Maybe. I've tried hypnosis three times in my life to change specific behaviors. It worked two out of three times.
If we were talking baseball, that would be a great stat. Good luck! Sources: Life Snow_Leopard's Recommendations Some people can do self hypnosis and some can't.

I hear you! I have all sorts of food phobias and OCDs. There are some foods that not only can't I eat, I can't even look at them.It totally sucks.
I can look at some things, think "wow, to some people, that would be delicious and appetizing" but the thought of EATING it makes me gag. Other things, forget it, I can't stand to be anywhere near them.(Fish/seafood of any type, mayonnaise, & mustard are all the worse for me.) I have been to therapy (2 different therapists) and had hypnosis (3 different hypnotists). The ONLY thing hypnosis ever did to change my eating habits was to make me unable to eat anything for about 3 days.
I called the therapist back, had another session to "repair" whatever she had implanted in my head.My eating habits then went back to what they were, no other change. I sympathize with you and I feel for you and believe me, I know exactly how you feel and how frustrating it is and how stupid you feel refusing to eat certain foods for no good reason. Take vitamins and do your best.
If you can't eat veggies and greens, even mixed in with other things like in a casserole, make sure you also take some kind of fiber supplement. I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
