NOT with your US residency card. You will have to get a work visa and then apply for residency. Might be easier just to get a work visa for Canada and stay living here in the USA.

Edit:A Nexus card would make it easy to travel across the border. If you decide to live in a border town I suggest getting a nexus card. The nexus card will save you tons of headaches and time.

But I don't wanna continue my residency here in US. I wanna work and live in canada. My plan is to go in canada as a tourist and then find a job so I can stay there for long and eventually apply for residency.

Your residency status is contingent upon you residing in the U.S. It is called "resident" for a reason. Using it or treating it like you are a citizen is very, very wrong. Only citizens do not have to maintain residency, but they are citizens not legal "residents".

You have to apply for residency in Canada. Call their Consulate.

It is different for each person so you have to contact the Consulate. It is possible that they would allow you to immigrate and start working. Each country has different rules.

We have friends waiting for the papers to come through and they are waiting for few months. I don't have any idea if Canada has a problem with illegal aliens.

However, keep in mind that Canada has a 8.5% unemployment rate, and Canada will only approve a worker who has a unique talent that Canadians don't have.So if you are a corporate president or CEO, a talented computer programmer, a doctor or scientist, then you may be able to get a work permit.

Otherwise, you should probably look for a job here in the US.

Well, I think it's unlikely unless you have relatives in Canada. That could help you to gain residency there. But why don't you just come to the US?

The US has 10 times the number of people and a lot more business headquarters, meetings, conferences, and tourism destinations. And then you can work on getting into Canada (although I think you might stay in the US).

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
