I prefer my British mysters written by women . . .

And historical . . .. .. Really don’t know why.

Here are my favorite authors - you pick up any of their books and you are in for a good read ... Ellis Peters - Brother Cadfael mysteries - 12th century monk who is a sleuth (played by Derek Jacobi on BBC) Elizabeth George - a good one to start at the first book. They aren’t sequels - but there are references to previous cases in her books. Modern day police procedural in London Peter Tremayne - 7th century nun who is an Irish lawyer (for lack of a better word anyone would understand) - Tremayne is a Celtic historian so his books are full of good bits of history and very authentic period-wise PD James - Another current day police procedural with some of the funnest (is that a word?) characters in any series.

I wish I knew someone like Melrose Plant Anne Perry has three different series - two take place in the Victorian Era and the third one is new and takes places during WWI Barbara Cleverly Joe Sandilands mysteries take place in India - he is on loan from Scotland Yard. There is always Agatha Cristie and Sherlock Holmes - I am not a big fan of Christie because the solutions always rely on a piece of the puzzle that the reader doesn’t know. I can never figure out Sherlock Homes, but they are fun.

Hope this helps you on your way to a full recovery. Happy Thanksgiving. Sources: I read a lot of mysteries!

3 They are more thrillers, I guess, than mysteries, but I love the Lincoln Rhyme series, by Jeffrey Deaver. Actually, his stand-alones are great, too. I have yet to figure out what is going on, before he read it, which in my mind is the mark of a good mystery--- I try to figure it out, but shouldn't be able to.

:) Hope you are feeling better soon! Kat .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
