No, This educator doesn't agree with that educator. We're all born with different levels of intelligence. We still have to develop our minds, no matter what level of intelligence we're born with.
I believe that's what she was trying to say. I just don't agree with the way she said it.
I guess I have to agree with her in a way! It really depends on how you look at the word smart The definition is: showing mental alertness and calculation and resourcefulness Now on the one hand you can be born with mental alertness and pick up resourcefulness and calculation before you even get into school(in a sense).. on the other these traits can also be acquired... or maybe honed or something is a better word Basically being born with the gift of being able to process information doesn't give you any information... which is also required for a child to be "considered" smart... Think about Maslows Hierarchy of needs... if a child's physiological and safety needs aren't met then there is no hope of them really excelling at anything beyond trying to survive... Then there are children who are maybe not so high on the IQ charts if they were evaluated at a young age that grow up to be doctors and lawyers and even the President.... which probably means that inversely you can give a child a lot of information and make them process it... and they can get better at it... and thus "become" smart... So I guess what I am saying is that she is right... if you factor the actual information into the equation. Thank you for your time... you've been a great audience...good night!

2 Yeah, when I was substitute teaching, that was the problem I kept running up against. There was this attitude in the schools that all the kids were the same and all you had to do was educate them. So all the kids were thrown together into classes, and I could see that a quarter of the kids could finish their work in 5 minutes while half the kids might take 20 minutes.
The smart kids were bored by having to wait for the slow kids. By all rights, the smart kids should have been in "smart" classes where they could excel. These kids could have learned a great deal of material, but they were being handicapped by this ideology that everyone was the same.
About Einstein, I had a teacher who use to say that if Einstein was back in the Stone Age, he STILL would have been SMART! The guy would be inventing the wheel, learning how to make fire, improving spears by inventing throwing sticks and boomerangs, and so forth. Kids are not all the same.
Some kids are born smarter than others. And we are shortchanging these kids with this myth that a stupid kid can learn as much as a smart kid! .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
