IRS has set up an online site called "Where's My Refund". This service will inquire on the status of your refund. You can also check the refunds you have received from the previous year by emailing them and request for that information.Be sure to have your SSS number, filing status.
If you don't have access to the internet you can call them at 1.800.829.1040.
If it was through an electronic vendor, then you should be able to go back and look at the last one on their web site. The other easy answer is to ask your bank, if you had the check direct deposited or took it down yourself. Most banks have online banking features, and if it doesn't go back far enough to the deposit of that refund, you can probably visit your bank branch and they'll look it up for you.
The IRS has a "where's my refund" page that would tell you, but the catch is, you already have to know how much it is before you can log on. This is the page link, and maybe there is some information about tracking down information from previous years: irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=200571... Good luck.
