1 MSW is the most marketable degree in the field. It meets the standard for medicaid/medicare billing.
2 I concur with hipnek, the MSW is likely your best all-around entry to the field you will ultimately chose, and is desirable in many fields insuring a more or less certain, if not terribly well payed j-o-b. Good luck.
I already have a BS in sociology emp. In Psychology and Family Health. I have looked into general Psych, clinical psych, MSW, MFT, mental health clinician for Master programs.
I have worked in the social work field and enjoy working with adults and children. I would love to do psychiatry but $$$ and time to do that may not be on my side. Currently a 25 yr old at home mom and hoping to do a masters program online.
From what I know clinical programs can't be done online. Would general Psych masters prog be beneficial? Or a waste of time?
I would enjoy a career in school counseling, marriage and family therapy, working with serious mental health issues in adults or children. I believe counseling is definately important and needed in helping individuals and families understand their mental illness, but medication is definately needed as well but oftentimes can create more problems if left with no follow up or time to correctly diagnose in the first place.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
