I have DirectTV. Need high speed internet to upload photos, do business, etc. What do you recommend? Verizon is not an option nor is DSL 'cause in dead zone even though in LA.
Want to keep DirectTV, so do you recommend AT&T, Hughsnet or Wildblue that is part of DirectTV? Want what is most cost-effective. Have a land line but thinking of discontinuing if I can.

If you order Verizon FiOS, you should get that DSL and Entertainment provider stuff. PM me and I'll have my oldest sister, who is an engineer for Verizon (disclaimer) look into it.
2 Well, since you mention AT&T, it makes me wonder why DSL is not an option for you. You might check to see if either their typical DSL (aka ADSL) service or their U-Verse product is available in your area. I recently switched from ADSL to U-Verse (which is VDSL), thus upgrading my speed from 6Mbps downstream/768Kbps upstream to 18Mbps downstream/3Mbps upstream for use with my business.
The cost of the faster service is only $10 more than I was paying. When combined with the removal of the DirecTV service that I had and replacing it with the equivalent U-Verse package, I am actually paying less than I was before and I am getting more service overall. :-)A warning, though: if you choose to disconnect DirecTV and you have not had it for at least two years, they will charge you a disconnection fee equal to $20 per month shy of that two-year anniversary.
When I signed up, they told me that it was only a 12-month commitment but then told me when I recently got it disconnected that my contract was actually for 18 months (now all contracts from them are 24 months in duration), so I would have to pay $100 in early disconnect penalties. Because of that lie and ripoff game, I will never deal with them again. I do not take kindly to that sort of BS.
Another tidbit for you: if you choose to go with AT&T's U-Verse, there is an installation charge if you get only the VDSL service but it is waived if you also get the TV service. Further, they are currently running a deal in which you get gift cards totalling as much as $300 if you have your service installed by a certain date and keep the service for a minimum of 30 days. (With the package I purchased, I am due to get $150 within the next few weeks as my first month is just about done.)If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a private message.

3 Anything is better than a land line for Internet. I have Comcast Cable with high speed internet. It is great.
Also have it for my HD TV'S.

4 Satellite internet is a last resort. If there is no way you can get digital cable internet, or DSL, then for onlytwice the money you can get satellite internet, which runs comparable transmission speeds to DSL, with a 1 second latency per signal. (this means when you're playing an online game, there is a guaranteed second or more lag between when you click and your character reacts.
- hughesnet specifically recommends not to bother trying to play real-time online games, for this reason. That said, it beats the he** out of dialup, and I have had communication when all power, telephone, and cable service was knocked out by a winter storm.

What is the difference between LAN DSL T1 T2, the other Ts and .
How do I get Ubuntu (7.04) to work with Cox .
How to configure att high speed internet to Trendnet wireless router.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
