I have fluid inside my ear and can't hear out of it for 3 weeks. Any suggestions?

I have fluid inside my ear and can't hear out of it for 3 weeks. Any suggestions? My doctor gave me an antibiotic that didn’t do anything and had me take Sudafed which was supposed to dry it up, but didn’t.

When I lay down on the same side of my blocked ear, after a minute I can hear the fluid move and it gets clearer a little bit. I have no pain at all, I just can’t hear out of that ear. I have had a cold for about 5 weeks.

Only a little cough here & there. I did go on an airplane twice right before this started. The second airplane trip was two days before the fluid blocked my ear completely.

But now it has been 3 weeks of this. I need an at home remedy or something I could buy at the store. I will go back to doctors Friday if nothing else works first.

Definitely another doctor My right eardrum ruptured in December 2006, no fun, let me tell you. Definitely go see another doctor, preferably an ear, nose and throat specialist. The last thing you need is an infection.

Steam There is a thick mucus in your Eustachian tube, in all probability. Sudafed may still help, but in adults the best method I have found is old-fashioned steam inhalations. The steam may penetrate and soften the plug of mucus so you can free it.

You don't need anything in the steam - things like menthol and eucalyptus make it smell better and prove it is getting through, but their contribution to its efficacy is very small - but you need to inhale over a bowl for around ten minutes a time, a couple of times a day. There is a gadget called a Clearway inhaler which is safer to use and reduces the risk of scalding. It looks like a child's trainer cup but in place of the sip nozzle it has a mask that fits over your nose so it directs the steam where you want it (and keeps the water hot longer).

My oldest son had several ear surgeries before he was 10 yrs old, mainly tubes, etc. But the last time he had surgery it was to repair his eardrum where he had so many sets of tubes that the eardrum had a hole in it and needed to be patched to keep out fluid, dirt, bacteria, etc. But I was also told that when he goes swimming (after the patch healed) to buy an eye dropper at the pharmacy and put a couple of drops of Rubbing Alcohol in each ear to help dry it out. That may be too late for you now, but it might be worth the effort too. Also, a heating pad will sometimes draw the water to a point where it can escape.

The Dr. also told us that when you come out of a pool, you should lay your head down on the hot concrete putting each ear down for a few minutes at a time and the water will drain out. He was an old fashioned pediatrician and has since died but I sure missed h im for years because of all his home remedy-type solutions to different problems. He didn't pass out medicine like they do now, we all did the preventative stuff that he recommended when we could.

You will become dizzy and just unbalanced all together if the fluid remains in there too long. If you have pain, fever or any drainage, you should call your Dr. again. Good Luck.

Hold your nose and blow I had this problem several years ago, and a friend who had raised a child with multiple handicaps, including ear problems, and done a splendid job of it told me to "hold your nose and blow". I could not believe it--all my life I'd been told that was the worst possible thing, etc. She said the specialist had told her daughter to do it on the rare occasion. I did it and it worked!

I was totally stunned, but the relief was unbelievable. I was trying to teach school at the time and miserable. Good luck!

Squeeze an onion and let the juice go on the eardrum. Garlic in oil helps kills germs too. It maybe due to eating.. foods you are allergic too.

My son had lots of ear infections when he ate ice cream or sugar. He is celiac. Dairy and grains hurt him.

Celiac test enterolab.com cheek genetic test and stool sample, blood tests don't work.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
