Well, a teleohone provider could give you at least internet and phone service - problem is, the Public Utilities commission regulates who is allowed to provide what services, and in the dark ages, you could only get one service from each provider. - now you may have two or three choices, but in the long run, a bundled package from any provider will cost about the same as a bundled package from another provider. Where I am, if you want high speed internet or digital TV, you have no other choice than satellite, and telephone is only available via analog landline.(similarly, if you buy cable, you get 24 channels of analog TV, and maybe a few channels with signal degradation) .

Not here - cell service ends about 3 miles down the road.

Well then, maybe there is a chance for me because cell phones work all around here. I just haven't heard of, or even if it's possible to operate your PC off of 4G. Barrett 9 months ago .

You probably don't get them 'cheap'. You might - and I mean not for sure, but *might* get them cheaper as a bundle from one provider or another. For example, AT&T has Uverse (like cable) which also includes high speed internet and (optionally) voice telephone.

Comcast has its 'triple play' bundle. But will it be cheaper overall? Depends on where you live, what the competition is like, what services or speeds you get, and what sets of channels you decide to subscribe to.In other words, a lot of it is up to you.

But don't hold your breath for it to be radically cheaper.

A friend has recently switched to a "magicjack" that runs off his PC, and subscribed to a web TV service. TV and phone are radically cheaper with much more available on TV. I guess my question should have been; Are there any high speed net providers via satelite that don't require a dish or antenna?

We are quite happy with the AT&T Uverse bundle. I particularly like that it has a built in DVR, I set it to record multiple shows when I'm away and watch them later. You can also pause, rewind and fast forward live tv.

I don't believe AT&T is available in my local, but it doesn't matter because it's over priced and reasonable price is what I'm looking for. Barrett 9 months ago .

Tharnpheffa, Please forgive my rudeness, and I thank you for your suggestion. Barrett 9 months ago .

Thanks, Barrett ;0)Where we are the AT&T bundle is less than Comcast and the phone has free unlimited long distance.

Our comcast bundle also includes "free" phone. The total/month as agreed about 4 years ago was $114/month. It has grown to about $160.

Either price is designed to make a lot of otherwise ordinary people exceedingly wealthy. There is way too much money going into undeserving pockets. Barrett 9 months ago .

They have us over a barrel, pretty much. We pay $134.

We have Comcast bundle, daughter has Verizon Fios bundle and everyone ends up paying the same. I have not checked Optimum that my friend likes it. One thing that saved us a lot of money is having Skype (is free to download and free to communicate PC to PC) and doing our international calls cheaply this way.

Calling Sao Paulo, Brazil via Comcast we pay 14 cents /minute and using Skype we pay 2.6 cents per minute. The charges are excessive for the cable TV and the alternative is not to have them. Do we really need 1,000 channels?Ridiculous.

We should be able to pick and choose the channels and pay a fee only for the ones we watch not buying levels that also include many that we will never watch (Golf, Hunting, Fishing, Military etc. ). The plan we have (hubby picked) we have HBO, Showtime, Starz and we watch them iccasionally. I prefer renting a movie from Blockbuster.

I remember growing up in Brazil in the 40's, our house was the only one on the block that had a phone (# was 8-7676 and no area codes). My father, an architect, had the money to buy a line. When we immigrated to the US in the 60's he sold the line to an emergency clinic with a good profit.

Now the numbers in Brazil have 8 or 9 digits without including the area codes and they are no longer a rarity. Who knows...maybe one day the bundles will be accessible to all not just to the ones that can afford it..

I hear that. Providers need to come under some kind of consumer control as long as competition remains impossible or extremely limited. Viva North Africa! Viva Wisconsin!

I hold out hope for wireless internet with many competitors. Thank you, Violet. Barrett 9 months ago .

Funny that after answering this question a big tree limb fell accross the street and brought down the electric and cable wires for half the block. The electricity was handled efficiently and immediately. The cable, Comcast....OMG!

I called and got an appointment. They did not show up as scheduled. Every time I called the hour changed.

They ended up coming when it was 8PM. I'm going to demand a refund for the day that I did not have the service! I could handle no TV and no Internet for awhile but my phone not working was a problem.

If family in South America tried calling forget it. They will not call a cell phone because the charges are exhorbitant.

That way, the cost of communicating with them would be only the cost of the electricity. CHEAP Check them out at Radio Shack. That's what I'd do.

Yes, skype is free if you don't count the internet charges and electricity. Short wave only costs the price of electricity. Barrett 9 months ago .

I have the PC on anyway. I use my PC to call the landline phone in Brazil at 2.6 cents per minute (no fees ). I talk PC to PC for free and with a webcam we see hubby's mom (93 years old) and our great nephew (2 years old).

Many years ago we tried the short wave.... not the same.

No, not the same. No video and anyone can listen in. But as cheap as running a light bulb.

Just finding cell phone accessories. Help? " "Which cell phone provider has the best coverage in the Seattle area?" "Can I forward my cell phone to my land line to save cell minutes?

" "What is the best cell phone provider in the Seattle area?

What cell phone service provider offers TDMA service and Nokia 5125 phones that cover north Florida - south Georgia area.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
