I have some checks from before my old bank got sucked up by a new bank. The routing number and account number (more)?

1 Yes. The routing number and account matter. The printed name does not.

Further, when Bank A took over Bank B, there was some clause in the agreement that "Bank B does hereby have the legal obligation blah-blah-blah ... to act as Bank A" .

2 You should be able to use them until you run out. That's what my new bank told me after the FDIC seized the old one and transferred my account to them. They try to make it as transparent as possible.

The only problem I had was with my ATM card. They claimed to have sent me a new one, but I never got it, and they pulled the rug out from under the old one. As such, I was without an ATM card for about a week while they cut me one that would work.

3 I had the same situation Schelli and went into my bank to check. I had a whole box of checks with the old bank name on them, and they said they couldn't be used. They would not be honored by the bank.

The routing and account numbers had not changed. I would check with your bank first. I bank with a Wisconsin bank chain that is pretty widespread, Associated Bank (which used to be First Federal).

If I remember right you live in Wisconsin also so may have the same bank...

5 That which has gone before is all correct, and you should have received a letter to that effect. You probably did, but threw it away as looking like the rest of the barrage of junk.

Last week BoA contacted me because they noticed that an ATM transaction was posted on my account at an international ATM, not where my address is listed. The woman told me that when they see transactions that look weird, they like to contact the client as soon as possible to ensure there isn't an issue. The interesting thing about this "as soon as possible" concept is that I came here eleven months ago.

I have been using the same exact ATM for eleven months, and they contacted me "as soon as possible" a few days ago.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
