Well, it depends on what he will be doing. If he is going to use it for school work, I suggest you get him Microsoft Office Suite. You can download internet browsers (like Chrome and Opera) that have ad blockers and parental control if he is mainly going to be surfing the internet or gaming.

You are sent CD roms to install. Dell does a basic set up,you do the rest with CD roms. Less than 2 years old, and keys are already breaking.
