I just bought the Sony 1080p upscaling DVD player and I only have TIVO and an older TV. how do I connect?

If you only have an antenna plug, you can only plug the Tivo in. I would bet the upscaling DVD player does not have an antenna or RF out. If you have some RCA plugs, specially ones that are red, white and yellow, then you can plug the DVD player there.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
