I need a clever way to let someone know: "You're going to Italy" You know, like when you hear about a guy that puts the engagement ring in a fortune cookie or something! I would like to have something that could be in a card or a small gift bag--not like dressing up in togas or plane tickets buried in pasta or anything! And not just a plane ticket in the envelope, either...we want creative!

This is for a female, if that matters. Thanks in advance! Asked by *Poppet* 49 months ago Similar questions: clever Italy Games & Leisure > Travel.

I had a friend who proposed like this... 1. You can find a small apothecary (little drawers), and put different things/clues referring to the trip in each drawer with the last drawer holding the airline tickets or itinerary to Italy! My friend actually put things in each drawer that related to various aspects over the course of their relationship leading up to the proposal with an itinerary and tickets to Italy.2.

Depending on when and where you plan to do this, you could put a small scavenger hunt together and have your friend find various things relating to Italy (i.e. Italian wine, a box of pasta, parmesean or asiago cheese block, pasta sauce, Italian made sunglasses, a map of Italy, a book about the city you might visit, etc. ), and after she collects the clues, make her put the clues together to come up with a common thread...then present her with the trip!3. You could do a gift bag with the above mentioned items, and after she has pulled each item out, you could then ask her to try to figure out what they all have in common, and after she puts it together, give her the trip!4.

If you want to stick to paper or envelope size...do a puzzle of either a word search (if you can put one together, I congratulate you now in advance), do a word scramble where various Italian oriented words are jumbled, and she has to figure out what the words are (kind of like those games you play at baby or wedding showers), and when she figures out that all of the words relate to Italy, you could surprise her....OR, you could write the message in the same fashion (she'll have to figure it out first)... UYO---YOU REA---ARE OGIGN---GOING OT---TO YALTI---ITALY Have fun...it sounds like a blast of a trip, and I sure wish I could join you! I've always wanted to go over there!.

How about something like this... 1) Get an empty pizza delivery box (take-out box), weight it down with something, and then put the plane ticket or travel itinerary in there. Wrap it up and you're ready to go. 2) Purchase a travel guide to Italy and put the plane ticket or itinerary in there.3) Take her out to dinner at an Italian restaurant.

Ask to see the dessert menu (hopefully at a place that actually gives you a menu with the dessert items listed and not just a waiter who’ll recite by memory what’s for dessert). Have the plane ticket or itinerary placed inside the menu. I realize these differ from something that would go into a card or a small gift bag -- perhaps you could incorporate them if you went with the travel book option... I’m trying here...good luck!

How about instituting a new Christmas tradition... ...at the right moment, snifters get passed around with small amounts of Sambuca. In each snifter, as always, you have 3 coffee beans--for health, wealth, and luck. You wish everyone a Merry Christmas, toast "Salute! " and drink.

But, before this, you need to (safely) paint one of the coffee beans red for the recipient of the trip (of course, the one symbolizing luck)--you may need to use a red hot candy or something so you don't accidentally poison your loved one...and you may need to test this out...okay stop complaining, I can tell how painful this will be...but, I have never put a red hot or a coffeebean with food coloring on it into Sambuca. If I were there, I would personally volunteer to do this for you. You don't wan't the red hot to dissolve or the food coloring to come off. Unless the recipient is an absent minded professor, the obvious question is what is with this red coffee bean?

That is when you pull out the ticket in the bright red envelope. What a generous gift that will bring someone real happiness. All of us in Askville will be toasting you at the same time.

I would have suggested converting some American currency to Lira It would have been a cute idea but they made the change to the Euro in 2002. I made two of my last leftover "500 lira," bi-metallic coins, into earrings for sentimental reasons.

Why not tickets to the Uffizi if they will be traveling north.

I think I'd still get hold of a handful of lira and put in a purse just for the sake of tradition.

Note and music.... In a small bag, place a burned copy (CD) along with a CD player of some kind (even an iPod would work) with a recording of the Italian National Anthem, along with a note in Italian saying Lei va all'Italia! (You are going to Italy. Here's a place you can here the anthem and read a little about it.

I have dual citizenship with Italy. When I travel to the EU, can I use my US passport to exit and re- enter the US and m.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
