I recently moved from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh. I love fancy food. What restaurants should I check out in the Burgh?

To get a sense of my tastes, my favorite Philly places are: Alison at Bluebell, Striped Bass, Tamarindos, La Cava, and 211 York. I've tried Bona Terra in Pittsburgh, and had a good time, but am looking for more and maybe better. Good places in other towns include: Sona, Second City, and Spagos in LA, and Flying Fish Cafe at Disney's Boardwalk.

I especially like New American, Haute Mexican, French, Seafood, Southwestern American, and Californian. I aspire to some day get back to Philly to try the Fountain or Le Bec Fin, and some day to get out to the French Laundry. I recognize that Pittsburgh isn't one of the Big Food towns (New Orleans, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, etc.), so my expectations are appropriately adjusted.

I'm just looking for superbly prepared, interesting dishes with great flavor in a nice environment with very good service. Suggestions? Detailed descriptions of dining experiences are especially helpful.

Big Burrito restaurants are quite nice. bigburrito.com/ This is a restaurant management group that runs some high end restaurants in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh Rare is also supposed to be an excellent steakhouse.

There are a bunch of high-scale restaurants up on Mount Washington. (Take the incline to get there! ) My favorite Pittsburgh restaurant would have to be Taj Mahal on McKnight Rd.It's a little bit north of the city, and not at exactly "high end", but they were ranked the #1 restaurant in Pittsburgh.

I never liked Indian food until I ate there. Everything I've tried is absolutely delicious, and extremely inexpensive as well. Good luck finding more restaurants!

So many choices! I've only been there twice but ate very well both times. As always, chowhound is my source whenever I travel: chowhound.com/topics/show/333180?query=p... chowhound.com/topics/show/331613?query=p... chowhound.com/topics/show/258602?query=p... chowhound.com/topics/show/180408?query=p... chowhound.com/topics/show/178335?query=p... chowhound.com/topics/show/178068?query=p... .

Name as many fast food restaurants as you can!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
