First my problem started out by over heated USB ports( HP SAID CAUSED BY OS) which slowed the comput Windows XP sp2 (Also updated with everything )first my problem started out by over heated USB ports( HP SAID CAUSED BY OS) which slowed the computer beyond a possible way to work on it , but I managed to disable all of them ... tryin to find a solution , I couldnt and dicided to get a PCI bus which has USB connection on it , so I went and bough a HP PCI bus with two USB ports on it , and here is the problemnow everytime I plug in the mouse or my small memory stick (64 M) or my razer phone the computer works fine , but when I plug in my EXTERNAL harddriver (120 g) OR my camrecorder (80 g) the computer works for like 1 minute , and then freezes totaly ... unless I take the PCI slut out side the computer will stay in freeze mood , after I take the PCI slut out the computer works PERFECTLY ..Right click on My Computer. Choose Manage (This will open the Computer Management window). Go to the Storage category and select Disk ManagementRight click the new drive (usually listed as Hard Disk 1) and "initialize"You now have the option to partition and format the drive.

The default settings of Primary Partition and NTFS- Quick Format are recommended for most users. Enjoy your new drive. I recently came across this forum in trying to find anwers to the same problem, however, my external drive won't work with my pc or laptop not recognizing my external drive.

When I go to the disk manager it shows up there as unassigned. It also won't initialize. It was working fine when I first installed it, but once I removed it in order to backup my laptop it would not work on the laptop and now it won't work on the pc either.

I'd appreciate any help. *****I too am in the same boat... I purchased an unformatted external drive (I think it's a 2.5" Toshiba 80GB) for moving data on my Mac G4 to my pc laptop. I had to partition the drive for it to be recognized by the Mac and now it is not being recognized by the PC.

I am running Windows XP. I don't know if this is an issue of the drive appearing to be two separate drives running on a single USB (as mentioned above) or if I need to reformat for it to be recognized by the PC. I don't want to lose the data I've already transfered onto the external HD by reformatting.(And then perhaps it won't be recognized by the Mac again?)When I follow the steps above for Computer Management, it says that "Disk 1" is unknown, not initialized, and has 74.5 GB unallocated.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
