I understand having a Friends list; I use mine fairly often. But why do I want/need a Favs list? What can I do with a Favs list that I can't already do with my Friends list?

Ah ha... a favs list... Okay the only thing you can do with a favs list that you can't do with a friends list is be anonymous to the person who you fav. It allows you to avoid asking the person to be your friend (or waiting for the person to ask you). Think of a fav as a bookmark.By adding someone as a fav, you can easily find their profile page again and access their public info (including what questions they have asked and answered).
With the recent activity screens, you can also see more details (for instance what discussions the person has participated in). One more thought about favs. If you are uncomfortable with the idea that someone can see your recent activity you can change your settings. Under the privacy tab you will see these options: As you can see, I have decided to have my recent activity viewable only by friends.
I think of it this way, if someone wants to know all of my recent activity, they can ask to be my friend. My Recent Activity Recent Activity is viewable by everyone (default) Recent Activity is only viewable by my friends Recent Activity is private to myself See Askville's Activity FAQ for more details..
Minor difference You can watch the activity of both - what questions they've answerd, what discussions they've commented in. With Friends, they know who has selected them as a friend. With a Fan, they do not, They just get a message that they have a new fan.
With friends, you can forward them a question and it will have their name on a list to choose from. With a Fan, they are not on this list. You would have to manually send them the question's link in a private message.
That's about it. Back during the latest round of gaming/point abuse, the notion of "malicious fans' cropped up. These would be people who monitor others for insidious purposes.67alecto's Recommendations Raving Fans (One Minute Manager) Amazon List Price: $14.45 Used from: $5.99 .
I do! I’m sure you have a lot of people on your friends list, making it hard to find people sometimes? There is no order to the list, and so many people to dig through to find someone.
That’s why I like the faves list--I keep those that I am closest to on that list so that makes it easier to contact them. And, I keep those Askvillers that I want to watch--those problem people so that if they change their name I know who it is, like those who've been caught "cheating". You're not going to ask that kind of person to be friends, so it's nice that we can kind of "bookmark" them with our faves list.
Someone could change their avatar and their name and unless you check back into their account you might not realize it. Plus, I think some of the shyer "newbie" people who don't participate alot but like to read the info here or maybe occasionally ask/answer a question might feel funny asking others to be friends, but they can mark them as faves. Poppet!

Just one thing, but I'll explain how I use my faves list. The only real difference is you can track someones activity who hasn't agreed to a friendship with you. I'm sure you already know, butI'll include his for the sake of being thorough, the friendslist is reciprocal, while you can fave anyone.
Yo can't trck anyone who's blocked faves from tracking their activity. I have adjusted my privacy stting so that only my friends (people like you :) can see my activity. I fave people because I like their content.
I do it as a show of appreciation,so they will have "fans". I have recently faved someone because of some really suspicious acctivity, but I will retract that as soon as "I'm done with my investigation". The faves list IS a little easier to keep your cantacts on,as you normally don't have as many faves as friends.
This way you can sort more easily to find an askville,in the event you want to PM them etc. So,the answer is,you can have a contact list or track someone who hasn't agreed to be your friend, though I can't imagine someone not wanting to be Pam's friend Sources: Askville .
Friends could be 'friends' and Favs could be 'best friends' Rather than having to go through a huge list of 'friends', your 'favs' could just be the special people that you like to communicate with most often. That's what I use favs' for...I can't really think of another use for it. It seems like the whole 'friends' and 'favs' thing has quieted way down.It does work well as a handy 'contact' list, though.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
