I want to buy a GPS unit for my car, and would like to stay around the sub $200 price range. Suggestions?

Garmin has new: Nuvi 1200 (SRP 199). It is slim, has turn by turn navigation, speaks street names amongst others. If you don't need it now and can wait until middle of the year, this is a good entry level GPS.

Amazon release date is May 20, 2009. Garmin also has numaps Guarantee. From Garmin: Anyone who first used their new Garmin nüvi or zūmo on August 17th or later will be eligible for a free map update if one exists within 60 days of the unit's first use.

Middle of the year or towards the end of the year is a good time to by GPS. Manufacturer usually try to get rid of their inventories by offering the next year map free. TomTom also makes great GPS.

However, I am more familiar with Garmin. Which one better? It's personal decision.

Some found TomTom menus are better.

I got the Garmin nuvi 255 for Christmas. It is a great little GPS with turn by turn directions announced by voice. Easy menuing system and of course the great Garmin maps.It is a little smaller than some of the other models, but I like it so that I can take it with me when I fly to different cities.

It is also available from Amazon for about $180 amazon.com/Garmin-255-3-5-Inch-Portable-....

I have the Garmin nüvi 760 Its wonderful I have had no problems with it. It gets me around effortlessly. It runs around the 200 price range also.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
