I want to buy my 8 year old grandaughter in Spain some good books for Christmas. She is a good reader in Spanish. She likes mysteries -- are there some good mystery series in Spanish (kind of like the old Nancy Drew mysteries I read when I was growing up here in the states?).

Zorro by Allende Not a mystery series, but I really enjoyed Zorro by Isabel Allende. It's an adult book, but doesn't have any adult situations you'd have to worry about. Allende is a great author, and it would be a good way to introduce her to some of the other books later on (I read House of Spirits (La Casa De los Espiritus) in high school (in Spanish), and it was great as well).
