I have a degree in Molecular Biology and you will be taking as many chemistry courses as biology courses. You will need calculus too. It is a rigorous program of study but very interesting.
I have great memorization skills. However, my math skills aren't advanced but their acceptable. I am a high school junior.
I am asking because I definately want to major in biology and molecular biology is a "maybe. " EducatedBarbiie 9 months ago .
Develop the math because when you hit college, that will make your high school efforts seem like the multiplication tables.
Thank you very much for your advice. =) EducatedBarbiie 9 months ago .
That depends on yur interest and your skills. It would be difficult for me.
I really enjoy biology, and chemistry. As far as physics and calculus that will probably be hard for me. EducatedBarbiie 9 months ago .
If you do study in this area, I suggest a tutor or some way to really pick up on the math. I was a physics major for four years and the math was what finally convinced me to move on to another subject. One must be very competent in math.
Thanks for your advice. I will take that into consideration. EducatedBarbiie 9 months ago .
Yes, there's an awful lot to those fields these days. You better be ready to read several papers each night on such thrilling subjects as "Transferease reduction of mytochondrial DNA by involute hyperthrocial defenestration in degenate nucleoside triphosphates" .
Oh my goodness! That sounds extremely hard but I'm up for the challenge. EducatedBarbiie 9 months ago .
I majored in Biology and I found it challenging, but in a good way - I love it so much I excelled in those classes. The Chem...another, whole story! I, like you, was weak in Math (still am, compared to others) and actually failed my first college-Chem.Class...I was SO dejected that I almost switched my major.
But an assitant professor talked me into taking a few remedial (100 numbered) Chem. And Math classes rather than throw away everything I WAS very good at and I got myself 'caught-up' enough to pass...though not with 'flying-colors' like in the Bio.Ones. I did well in the Lab portion of Chem.
, but sucked in the lecture part. Organic Chem. , though, is VERY different...more like Bio.
Than Chem especially as far as the Math involved...if you like Bio. , you'll enjoy Organic too. So, to save yourself from feeling inadequate, and losing money from failing a class, I'd suggest you sign-up for remedial classes from the 'get go'..

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
