I wonder who decided to only allow 140 characters for the update box. Did they just make up some random number? Why not 150? Or an even 200?

140 8 bit characters in the maximum size of an SMS message. You can squeeze 160 in an if you use 7 bit characters instead but twitter decided to stick with 140.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
