Answer - Look for / smell for- RAW gasoline spraying/leaking. Check your fuel injectors if any are leaking, if there is any fuel leaking it must be repaired prior to resetting the button in the trunk located on top of the passenger side strut tower, theres a hole, in that hole theres a button, it might need to be pulled back up if it feels as if it has already been depressed, put your finger on the side of the button and pull it up, then push it down and start the car, this will ONLY work if the fuel leak, be it a faulty injector, a line that is leaking etc... has been repaired, otherwise it will do no goid pressing the fuel cutoff reset switch, it will only trip the sensor again Answer Ford was concerned about electric fuel pumps running with ruptured lines after a collision. Tracers/Escorts were equiped with sensors to detect collisions and shut off power to fuel pump.
Owner's manual notes that even bumps in a parking lot might be enough to trip sensor if force was applied in appropiate direction. Reset button is located in trunk over right side wheel well. There is a small hole, insert finger and push down to reset.
I have seen this problem confound seasoned mechanics since the sensor can sometimes be tripped just by setting the vehicle down hard from a lift! What the fuel cut off means is - Fuel WILL NOT BE SPRAYING IF THE FUEL CUTOFF LIGHT IS LIT! Ignore trying to start it over and over aslong as the cutoff light is lit, it will nlt drain your battery.
Heres some more good information to know what to look for, and where to start- if your Tracer is (Dirrect Injection) fuel Injected, it will have 1 injector per cylinder, located on the top of the engine back side, under the intake manifold, they are in a row going left to right and angled/slanted down and forward on top of the injectors connected to them is the fuel rail, it can be removed easily, 2 bolts hold the entire rail and all injectors inplace, one bolt on the right and the other on the left. If your tracer has TBI is Throttle Body Injection, it will almost look like a carburetor, but it will have 1 or 2 fuel injectors visible after removing the air filter hope this helps ya figure out what your cars problem is. The Mercury Tracer is a compact car that was sold by the Mercury division of Ford Motor Company. It was based on the platform of the Mazda 323, replacing the European-derived Mercury Lynx. The 1991 and newer car is the Mercury version of the Ford Escort.
The Tracer was introduced in 1987 for the 1988 model year. It was a rebadged version of the Ford Laser model already sold in Asia and Australia, which was itself a restyled Mazda 323. The 5-door hatchbacks were built in Hermosillo, Mexico, and the 3-door hatchbacks were assembled (along with the Mazda 323) in Hiroshima, Japan.
Ford replaced the hatchback-only Tracer in 1991 with a twin of the Ford Escort, based on the Mazda 323's B platform. The Tracer LTS (which used the more powerful 1.8L Mazda engine) was on Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for 1991. The Tracer and Escort were updated in 1997 with a redesigned exterior and interior, and a new engine.
The platform remained the same as before. The Tracer wagon largely retained the same body style, gaining only the new interior, front end & fascia, side-view mirrors, door handles, badging, and slightly restyled taillamps & reflectors. All Tracer models were discontinued in 1999 along with the Escort wagon.
Mercury sold 23,1461 Tracers in its last model year. In addition to GS and LS trims, here was also a Trio appearance package as well (as with the 91-96 model), sold between 1998 and 1999. The LS offered tachometers and alloy wheels along with optional leather interior, key-less entry and power windows/door locks.
Mercury had announced that the new Ford Focus-based compact Mercury would be called the Tracer. This model of the Tracer would have started production and been sold as a 2011 model. The Tracer was cancelled along with the cancellation of the Mercury brand in 2010.
The Tracer will be replaced by a Focus based Lincoln. Reports suggest this model may be the production version of the C concept shown in 2008.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
