If a light switch is turned on but there's no bulb in the light fixture, is electricity being used and wasted?

No. Electricity does not get used until it actually DOES something: i.e. Light a light, turn a motor, heat a heater, or power a transformer.(and yes, anything with a remote cotrol, and any of your chargers have transformers in them) .

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
