Light bulb wattage in light fixture?

Light bulb wattage in light fixture I have a ceiling light (also called chandelier) that has three globes and takes three light bulbs. Is it ok to mix different wattage bulbs? Do they have to all be the same wattage or can they be like; two 40w and one 60w?

Even some other mixture? The instructions say each globe is limited 100w max. , 300w total maximum. Asked by lostmymarbles 27 months ago Similar questions: Light bulb wattage light fixture Home.

Your limits are as printed maximum of 100W for each bulb, which adds up to 300W total. You can mix whatever you want under those limits: one 100W incandescent, one 25W colored party light, and one "flicker flame" light... one 60W incandescent, one 11W fluorescent, and one 1W LED... of course, if you use 3 matching bulbs, the chandelier will look better. Each bulb connects to the power source independently of the other bulbs, so each bulb operates independently of the others.

You can even mix old and new bulbs, despite the urban legend of a new bulb burning out an old one. (I typically avoid exceeding the equivalent wattage of the max recommended wattage when using compact fluorescents - though the biggest I have seen are 100W equivalent, so it's a moot point. Sorry, no heat lamps for you.

1 It'll look funny, but as long as you don't exceed the total recommended wattage I don't see why not.

2 No problem. Just don't exceed 100 watts in any fixture or 300 watts total. The bulbs are independent of each other. It won't fall or short out.

3 Yes, you can do that. One caveat; if you want to use CF bulbs in the fixture, make sure they are not completely enclosed.

A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
