Yes, no It is possible for an appealed answer to earn the best answer ribbon. If there was already a best answer to the question there will then be two best answers. This information comes straight from the Mayor of Askville and can be found in this discussion.23 AskvilleMayor says: IF an answer goes through the appeal process and it qualifies for Best Answer Badge, then the answer will earn the Best Answer Badge.

Previous Best Answer Badges will still remain so you could have questions with multiple Best Answer Badges. Hope that clarifies things. Also, please read our blog entry which goes into more detail about all the changes done to the voting system: askville-blog.amazon.com/2007/11/new-vot... .

Appeals 1. Yes, it's possible for the appealed answer to become best answer. I've personally had this happen to two different answers.2.

From what I've heard, if there is already a best answer and a new one is declared from an appeal, they both keep the status as best answer. I personally have never had this happen so far, but it's what others have experienced here..

Yes, this has happened to me more than once. Especially if you appeal a question with few answers, and they all got the default OK. If you are the first to appeal, and it increases to 3.5 stars or higher, then you will get the best answer bonus.

Askville claims that if another person appeals, and their score matches or beats the existing best answer score, then a new best answer bonus will be awarded, and the question could have 2 or more best answers. I have not seen this happen yet, but I can see that happening. You wouldn't want to take points and gold away from someone who didn't appeal. No, the previous best answer does not lose the bonus points and coins.

I hope this helps.

If the appeal creates a new best answer If an appeal gives a rating to an answer that qualifies it for the best answer ribbon, it is awarded best answer.
