1. I usually leave my questions open for 3-days, until I receive the "this question is about to expire" email, unless the question is entirely factual (and cannot be refuted or built upon further) where a better answer isn't necessary in my opinion. 2.It depends on the question.
If it's more of an opinion question, or one that could have many answers, I usually leave the question open for the full three days. Otherwise, if the question has a very simple answer that can't be built-upon further, I'll close the question right away.3. I usually use a combination of helpful votes and my opinion.
If the most helpful answer isn't what I was looking for, I'll choose another answer that I thought solved my problem more thoroughly.4. Yes, a little bit. Usually when a question of mine gets lots of team tips (interesting votes), I feel more inclined to choose the best answer based on the community's opinion.
I think this is the case because if people cared enough to add an additional tip onto the question, people are likely searching on Google or other search engines for similar topics. As a result, I choose the answer that the community likes the most because even though it may not have entirely answered my question, it'll probably answer other people's similar questions in the future, that discovered the page through Google. If that's the case, I usually throw another tip to the person who's answer really helped me specifically.
In some other cases, I'll just leave the best answer decision up to the community, since they already put their own tips onto the question. These are just my ways of doing things. Everyone chooses a best answer differently.
Just make sure you're extremely careful before choosing "no best answer" … you should first comment on answers to clarify why their answer wasn't sufficient, to give answerers a chance to improve their answers through additional comments. From what I've seen, the community *really* doesn't like it when people add team tips onto questions only to have them marked as "no best answer" (or have any question marked as "no best answer", really).
I usually wait at least two days, but if the question is very specific, (like I need something to buy) and if I get an excellent answer quickly, then I will rate the question immediately. (Especially if I buy based on that answer. ) Otherwise, I wait and hope for a well thought out answer that covers all of the points that I am trying to elicit.(Like the answer that @Christhoms gave.).
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
