I am highly tempted to say yes because I have always been short with no possible way to be on top. However, I would never do something that is not natural.
I have to commit to random drug testing as part of my Racing License so I even have to check what cough medecine I can take!
I don't believe morally I could take performance enhancing drugs to further my sporting career.
The question is not what do I think I would do currently as a more mature, learned, educated family man, but WOULD I have been tempted when I was young, less knowledgeable, with NO reports about long term damage, most sports drugs weren't illegal, there were NO tests to catch you anyway, you weren't going to the Olympics, but wanted to excel at the top of your game in college and it was the 1960's and there was an abundance of drugs of all sorts readily available .....hhhmmmmmm ....maybe...
No because I couldn't sleep at night knowing it was illegal.
All good answers. I think I would have done it had I realized at the time how many people were doing it. I was a bit naive when I was in college and had no idea how pervasive it was until I had friends who played in the minor leagues.
I have wrestled with this question on a few occasions. Some professional's I know in the fitness industry swear by this and get great results. When it came down to it my conscience would not let me do it, I wouldn't be able to look at myself in the mirror and feel like what I accomplished solely on my own abilities.
No , I never believed in taking anything that would possibly change or have an effect on my mental and physical nature. ( You never know what effect it could bring after the fact). Plus, deep down inside I would know it wasn't totally me that was achieving all the success.
That's just my view.
That's not to say I never thought about it though.
I would not have taken the drugs because you would know that that is cheating and cheating is wrong. Plus I personally would like to know if I could do it on my own.
It's funny though, that the government is so involved with this matter revolving the sports world; but, they don't care at all that in the business world corporations encourage their employees to take steroids to help them work longer hours without slowing down! If it's okay for Big Business and the professional world, why isn't it okay in the play world of sports?
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
