1200 goldwing clutch slip Topic:- "1200 goldwing clutch slip"Descripion:- Bike sat in weather for over 6 years. Cleaned Carbs, then took out for test ride...engine runs great but, clutch slips bad (not: did not change oil), inspected clutch. Every thing is 100% new specs.
The friction plates have minor shine as do metal plates. No worp no discolor nothing. I was thinking of roughing up the shine on all URL1 major thought is that the Slave on the clutch may not be releasing pressure.
Any input would be great. Also over 6 years ago the clutch worked fine. Oil with additive in a goldwing Yours thoughts about the entire engine needing rebuild are just but when there is just one cylinder with low compression that often suggests a leaking valve since rings tend to wear evenly in all cylinders, same on car engines. Ruling out the valves is the first step. The noise I'm hearing isnt a "knock", it's more like a "pop" out the exhaust, it's not a backfire, or more accurately an "afterfire" like an explosion occuring in the exhaust from unburned fuel.
I should have recorded it. At this point I'm suspecting an exhaust valve "hanging" causing that odd sound. I have the head off, here's a couple pics.
Check out that oil puddle. This is after a clean wipe. It looks like water sat in this cylinder judging by the spots.
I'm not sure about the discoloration, that's alot more pronounced in the picture than in real life. I see too the PO removed the carbon ring when he shouldnt have. I'm off to locate a head gasket to put a known good head on.
If it is bad rings or needs to seat then it'll probably run forever anyhow. Sources: goldwingfacts.com/forums/view_topic.php?... .
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
