The Nazis wouldn't have been interested in the South Pacific. Remember Hitler & Tojo were good mates, Australia & New Zealand would have been like a victory present. We would have been left to the mercy of the Japanese Imperialism.
If your parents were from the silent generation, They would have been put to slavery or much worse. If they were baby boomers, you might not even exist. If we did exist, we would probably have names like Hideke Kojima or Yoshiko Yamashita!
If you are interested in alternative history there is an extensive fiction list in Wikipedia of books on the subject. Len Deighton's "SS-GB" is set in a Britain conquered by Germany. Robert Harris' "Fatherland" is set in a victorious Germany in 1964.
There are also a couple of collections "What If?" and "More What If?" edited by Robert Cowley, Pan with essays by professional historians looking at turning point battles and possible alternative outcomes. These are useful in reminding readers of the contingency factor in history at a time when some historians seem wedded to the inevitability approach whether from a Marxist, Hegelian or other religious (God is working his purpose out) viewpoint.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
