The Bible never tells us how old the earth is. Gen. 1:1 simply states : In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
It never says when or how he did this. Gen. 1:2 begins where God is preparing an already existing earth for life.
It has been over 6,000 years since Adam was created. But people assume each creative day was 24 hrs long. But the Bible never said the seventh day ended like it did the previous si days.
Paul told the Hebrew congregation that the seventh day was existing in his time. So far the seventh day has lasted over 6,000 years. No reason to believe the previous six were any shorter.
Of course, it doesn't say anywhere in the Bible the earth is 6000 years old. That figure is the date that an Irish priest pulled out his *** in the 17th century. Up until then nobody had any idea how old the earth was.
The recent emergence of Bible literalist, young earth creationists is both funny and scary in equal measures. Whilst it is amusing watching the cognitive dissonance of creationists trying to reconcile the sublime with the ridiculous, it's alarming that they want to impose their beliefs onto everyone, whether by Bible or by bullet.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
