I see some people here claiming that the very rich should be allowed to hold onto their tax breaks because they are using that money to create jobs. So, where are all these jobs? Why are so many people out of work, if the creators are actually creating "all these" jobs?

They're not, business has stashed away like $8 trillion in cash. They seem to think that's a safer thing to do than to expand their businesses. And they're not going to expand much, even if taxes get lowered-- they're already at the lowest level since 1960.
Ok, so this is a catch 22. They are not going to create jobs until people start buying , and people cannot afford to start buying until they get jobs. TurboB 3 months ago .
If people were spending their money, there would be more products needed, and more jobs would then be needed to create those products. It's commonly known as a vicious circle. With no jobs, there is no money to spend, and consequently no reason to create new jobs.
Why would anyone create new jobs when there is no product to produce and sell? That just doesn't make economic sense. Ring without having a way to pay those wages through your business dooms the company.
Someone needs to work on creating new jobs....new industries...and convince people that it's safe to spend their money, that the government and the banks aren't going to collapse...hmmm....wonder who's job that would be? Where is the leadership that can pull us all together to work on this problem? With an election coming up, all we are going to see, I'm afraid, is more division, more fear, more anger--and no new jobs.
So you admit that the so called job creators are no creating any jobs - and tha tmeans that they are not using their tax breaks like some people claim they are. Your comment does make sense. Thanks for your answer. As for creating new jobs - there is a plan for that, already.
We are waiting for the GOP to sign off on it, but they seem to think that the job creators who areb not creating jobs need to hold on to their tax break in order to create the jobs that they are not creating. TurboB 3 months ago .
Not discounting any of the above comment. I am simply asking where the jobs that are being ccreated by the "job creators" are. That is the only reason I have seen offered for extending the tax breaks to the rich - that they use the money to create jobs. It's a claim that has been used, over and over again, here.

So I guess churches and private charities are going to pick up the slack on building new infrastructure - like the GOP suggests. That's gonna work out really well, I'm sure. TurboB 3 months ago .
Rebuilding after natural disasters, too! Maybe if every American just built the part of road in front of his own house, we'd all make it to the city. And sewer line, too.
Who needs government infrastructure! We might want to bring back the horse and buggy while we're at it. Those were pretty cool.
That's a falacy that the uneducated and naive have bought into that doesn't reflect reality at all. The rich are laughing at all the fools that support that erroneous mentality, as they continue to get more than their share of money and invest it in earning themselves more money. The rich do not spend money, they hoard it.
They do not create jobs, they want to get rid of jobs so they can pay less and increase the profit.
I'm more than a little surprised that no one has mentioned C.E.T.A. , a program I benefited from personally and which exactly puts the money ON THE JOB and not anywhere else. It's almost as if they don't really care to succeed, only appear to.
I'm surprised that you do not know the funding for CETA was cut to almost nothing during the Bsuh years. TurboB 3 months ago .
Yes. I know, and that has come back to bite us. The available jobs right now are mostly for skilled trade workers - and no one has been trained to do them.
The focus was on getting a higher education and a degree - which is worthless, in todays job market. We need mechanics and welders and wood workers. TurboB 3 months ago .
Well, we haven't given them enough tax breaks yet. I think the theory is that if we let them have enough money, their big money vaults won't be big enough for it all; and it will overflow onto poor people.

And convince people that it's safe to spend their money,I can't speak for everybody; but what it would take for me is to have some money left over after paying the bills.

They aren't. The whole 'low taxes means jobs' mantra is a crock. Has been for 40 years.
But it gets repeated because it is a populist thing to say. If you repeat a lie often enough, people start to believe it.

Tax breaks are given for many other reasons than job creation. Just being in a town with some employees is good for the community--it brings in other industries, creates housing needs, restaurant and shopping needs. There is more to tax breaks than just job creation.
But with minimal need for a product a business can't continue to exist. There has to be financial motivation for ANYONE to do business. None of us work at a job for free.

It seems that those with the capital necessary for creating jobs are waiting for buyers to spend more before investing in the manufacturing of items to be purchased. Without these American items on the market or workers with the income to afford to their purchase, nothing is going to happen very soon. Of course the wealthy can always buy imported goods, until the economy of the entire world collapses.
Ok, so this is a catch 22. They are not going to create jobs until people start buying , and people cannot afford to start buying until they get jobs. TurboB 6 months ago .
If you missed this epic debunking of the "job creators" myth by Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-OR), it's worth a viewing - short and sweet. Com/watch?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
