It would not be a deciding factor in claiming that he is not his.. ..as in, there may be some other reasons for the father to doubt that the son is his, but this shouldnt be presented as one of the reasons. Both the father & the mother could be carrying a recessive gene for a cleft chin. Just the same as two blue eyed parents could have a baby with brown eyes and two parents with curly hair could have a kid with straight hair.
There is far more to it all than just dominant & recessive genes though. There is a really fascinating discussion here of how genes can change and mutate in the copying process. Really worth a couple of minutes of reading time.

Does not mean that the child is not his Cleft Chin - the abscence or presence of one does not confirm paternity. Only a genetic test such as a paternity test can do this.
Very possible I am assuming that a cleft chin is a recessive gene that no one that is alive on either side has. I have deep dimples and no one living in either side of my family has them. There was always the joke that the mailman had dimples but, I am definitely a combo of my mom & dad.

Could be Only paternity testing will tell. Traits like that can come from the mother's side too. My twin boys have tiny clefts in their chins, but my husband's family has none that I know of.
But my brothers have them- even though our dad doesn't.
Probably Unless theres something else going on that you didn't elaborate on. Genetic traits can go back many generations and they can come from either side of the family, a recessive trait can be passed on for many generations before it decides to show itself. I definitely wouldnt try to determine paternity in this fashion..
