If the US military is "fighting for OUR freedom" then why would Gen. Petraeus try to suppress our freedom?

It has only done that when our soldiers have defended US shores. The other times its been politicians and warmongers twisted logic trying to define that.

You are right. The first duty of any government is to protect the citizens. That requires military resources for the defence of the Nation.

Not btw to attack others. You ar right that Al Queda cannot invade the USA and replace its Constitution with Sharia Law. You are not right to say that Al Queda is an evil organisation.

They are shockingly ruthless, frighteningly single-minded and very backward-thinking people who regard themselves at war with 'Unbelievers'. In response, those unbelievers have declared a war against terrorism (Al Queda and their friends) As you are aware, in war, terrible atrocities occur. The West over the years is as guilty as any other people.

Napalm, Nuclear bombs, 'Collateral Damage', drone bombing, assassination. Toppling governments. The underlying struggle might be for religious supremacy or for Democracy to prevail but it is not a struggle between Good (The West) and Evil (Terrorists).

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
