Probably not, but you never know. In terms of star power, Sting is unquestionably the biggest star never to star in the WWE, but we've almost reached the point now where a lot of today's fans, particularly the younger, don't really know who Sting is and everything he's accomplished. Granted, there would absolutely still be a large portion of the audience who would be totally jazzed up for an Undertaker vs. Sting showdown at Wrestlemania (it is an all time dream match after all), but I don't know if, targeting the "WWE Universe's" current demographics, Sting would be able to draw as well as The Rock or Steve Austin.
That's just a product of exposure. The WWE constantly refers to Austin and The Rock as two of the greatest of all time, while Sting has never been in the WWE and therefore gets zero coverage. That's only natural.
Over time, with newer fans coming in all the time, that has a major effect on the way those stars are perceived. Plus, there is also the Brock Lesnar factor. I think it's just a matter of time now until we see him back inside a WWE ring, and because of his UFC pedigree he's the biggest draw in the wrestling world, hands down.
He has the potential to lure in a whole set of fans from mixed-martial-arts that The Rock, Austin or Sting couldn't even touch. This isn't too say that Sting will never show up in the WWE, especially if he's already talking about how he regrets not signing on last year (I hadn't heard that before reading this question), and we all know about how Vince loves his star power. But if the rumors are indeed true (and let's face it, they're usually not), with The Rock, Austin and possibly Lesnar, Sting might be the odd man out.
Now, as for potential matches for next year in alignment with the current rumors, Cena vs. Austin in a possibility. A lot can happen in a year, and if he's healthy, I could easily see Austin making an in-ring return to the WWE on a limited basis. That could easily lead to a showdown with Cena.
In fact, I could just as easily see a grudge match between Cena and Austin, The Undertaker or Lesnar. All of those would be easy to put together. With The Undertaker, obviously Cena, The Rock, Austin, Lesnar and Sting, and hell I guess even Triple H, are all potentials to challenge the streak next year, but I just hope that whoever it is is a regular from the WWE.
Austin and The Rock are mega-stars, no question, ditto for Lesnar and Sting, but from a long-time storyline perspective there just isn't as much there as there would be from a match with Cena or Sheamus.
Vince offered Sting a contract to wrestle WM against The Undertaker because at the time Sting was huge in TNA he was doing alot but now since he is starting to back away Vince could probably care less if he has names like Austin, The Rock, Cena and The Undertaker he wouldn't need Sting.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
