I believe we should all be ourselves - because everything comes from the same source - so in a sense, we are all expressions of the divine or "God" if you choose to call it that and "God" expresses its creative energy through us. I do not believe there is a "diety" but that "God" is the creative force or energy that we all collectively come from.
God presented mself to us in our image through He wanted us to be able to relate to In Gods world He is a Spirit. He has no resemblance to what we look like. This was also supported by Moses when he came from the mountain top.
God's essence was still present on Moses and it frightened Aaron. God wants us to be like m in the way we live our lives. The entire Bible is telling us how to be like God.It is not telling us to be God.
That is not possible.
In Islamic Belief ... Held, within the Quran's Stated, regarding The Lord's Creation of the Human, in the Distinct State of a living Form ... It Is Stated ... "We, have Created "Insaan" ... meaning, the Human In the finest of Symmetries ..." Thus, to me, not familiar with the logics of the Image, and likeness statement ... it is impossible to comprehend, how we could have been created, in the 'likeness' or the 'image' of One, who transcends Form ... For there is nothing Liken to In the Totality, Existent In But Yes ... as the Second, of God among the Created Totality ... we can often Exercise temporary Control, over powers, governing life and death ... But it is critical, to Restrain our Powers, to the Humane ... Our Acts should thus, in propriety, have to be Humane ... Because, being Humane, Is the Purpose of our being in Creation ... For Being Human, Is what The Lord Expects us to be, not gods ...
However I will add to this, it is better to do the right thing than to willfully do the wrong thing. And since we're created in the image of God, I believe that would also imply that we have God like potential within us and we can do the good things. I believe that whatever we sow we will reap / for every cause there is an effect.
Everything in existence has a polarity. Hot and Cold. Good and Evil.
Right and Wrong. Freedom and Bondage. Love and Fear.
Peace and War. Etc.....Please explain your thoughts on the matter......
I totally agree with you. I also believe that God wants us to have a relationship with him like we have with each other. We could never be like him but we can strive to be.
God's true image cannot be understood by the human mind. However, when it is written the that we are created in the image of God. This simply means that we like God are also creators.
We are in fact co-creators with God. God has created the physical and spiritual universe. God has also given us the power to create too.
Look around us, we have created computers, buildings, and so on. By our deeds and prayers we also create situations in the spiritual universe. In this way, we are similar to God.
That is why it is stated that we are created in the "image of God". It does not mean we look like God or God has only two hands and two legs.
We are like God in many ways - but we will always be the creature and He will always be the Creator. The clay and the Potter.
When you are asked to "remain in your box" you are in reality being asked to remain subjected to ignorance. As long as you remain ignorant (meaning lack of knowledge), you can easily be manipulated by . .. Anyone.
You were wise in deciding to "test the waters" as you put it. I would suggest you go even further than that and ask yourself if that entity that you consider God actually exists. For this you will need 1.
A course in logic 2. A course in philosophy 3. A course in the history of religions, and 4.
A biology course. All these courses ARE required for you to actually be able to make an educated conclusion as to the existence of that one who you call God. Find the truth. It will truly change your life forever.
Good luck, my friend.
After seventeen years of Christianity, I am not afraid to say that, when the Bible states we've been made in the image and likeness of God, it refers to human unique ability, among all creation, to contact and have a personal relationship with One would surely face difficulties if he tried to communicate with another person who can't even speak his language. Thereby, God's purpose is to interact with us, "work of his hands", and behind it lies the reason He made us so similar to God wants a relationship with human beings; therefore, it implies a dialogue where both participants have the same possibilities to express themselves, agreeing or not. In my vision, those who "stay in the box", so to speak, haven't understood yet the real essence of God's work.
This Creator's unbridled desire to contact s little pieces of art is pervasive in Biblical history, starting with the picnics in Eden up to the pouring out of the Holy Spirit. On no account will you see God imposing his will; on the contrary, He is always pointing the best way in s characteristic lovely manner. If one is willing to fully portray God as He is presented in the Bible, one can never accept such authoritarian assumptions - which some have named "Silence Dictatorship" - stated by virtually all Christian churches.
Confusion is a result of not having the correct knowledge by intertwining what God said and what man says. True bible believers know we are an express image of God; head, shoulders, knees, and toes. If humans accept the knowledge that we are the offspring of God, then are we on this earth to 'eat and be merry for tomorrow we die'?
On the other hand, if God is mindful of our actions, who is to say we do not have the potential to be like God or masters of our own universe? But if this is too much to comprehend, then start from the basic two laws; love God and love your fellowmen. Then wait for judgement day and see where you end up.
Yes, I believe God is a monkey, just like us. I believe that we should be as like God as we can - like the great monkey in the sky. We know that Jesus was not a Christian don't we?
He wasn't even God until 300 years after his death and that was the fabrication of priests. For me, the words of Jesus are close to God. The words of priests couldn't be further away.
What a wonderful, transcendent monkey God is - and he made us in his image - which is why we are monkeys! My problem is to extricate God from priests - those people Jesus called "whited sepulchres". Church leaders are one of the world's great evils.
Truly, this is the major reason man as the image and likeness of God should also walk in the realities of his nature by the help of the Holy Spirit who teaches and guides any believer into all truths. The ministry of the Holy Spirit at work in the life of any believer is what brings the reality of the Father in us and through us.
Are we created in the image and likeness of God as a statement depends heavily on your defitions of every word. So lets skip that one. Do I believe we should be like God?
Its like the two sentances...God is now here. God is no where. Depending on where you put the space, changes the complete meaning of the sentance, and the last two words in particular.
Should we be like God? Should God be like us? Same thing just a more complex version. My answer, no.
The islamic thought of creation is different from the jewish-christian thought of creation. The koran stated man was created impatient by his creator but can be made perfect by prayer. That would mean the intention of his creator was not was perfect.
The word create in hebrew meant bawraw means qualified and chosen. This mean by virtue of your creation you are qualified to be recreated in christ jesus by accepting him as the son of god. (john 1:1-12) allah claims he send the gospels in sura 3:3,5 and sura 3:55 says 'jesus is your protection from satan'.
I will give you later.
I don't think anyone can be like God and I don't believe that's what we're here for. We were created to be our own person. Also I don't believe those who stay in the box are safer.
If you stay inside how are you suppose to learn anything about what goes on in the outside. You'll be clueless which isn't doing you any good at all especially once your no longer able to stay hidden in a box and that is how fear and manipulation begins.
Humans ARE trying to become like the gods (plural, not singular). Sitchin (see my profile page) and many others have researched and come to the conclusion that we were genetically engineered from hominid (a type of ape) genes and their genes about 400,000 years ago. We are made in their image -- vain, deceitful, warlike.
Jehovah was one of them, even more psycho than most others. That is the vain, narcissistic, petty, vengeful character written about in the Old Testament. They, the Annunaki waged war.So do we.
They created us with genetic engineering. We are trying to see what we can do in that area. Even though Sitchin believes in the mortal gods, for some reason he still believes in some supernatural "God".
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
