If you could re-elect one past president, who would you choose?

Our current legislators in the House of Representatives and Senate certainly bicker and try to put one over on the other political party. But in Lincoln’s day, they were not arguing. They were fighting and killing and dying at a rate that is unimaginable today.

He had to sneak into Washington after his election victory because of death threats. And Lincoln not only survived until the very end of the Civil War, but he kept the country together in the end, all while setting the slaves free.No problem that any other President has faced was as bad as that, and Lincoln not merely survived, but he transcended the role of the office and for many generations to come.

George Washington! I believe he would have the moral fortitude to set the country back on the right track.

George Washington would be a good United States President to re-elect now if he were alive and if it would be possible. As the first President elect of the United States he had to have a vision of what is now the foundation of a new country. Obviously at that time this vision meant how to build a sustainable economy without having any fiscal policy in place.

Additionally, the United States during the time of his presidency was mainly agricultural. But he managed to work with other founding fathers, such as Ben Franklin, to form at that time what was known as a democracy. To further answer the specific question, George’s vision is what this country needs now.

Clearly, Washington, if alive, would not understand the various changes that happened in history, such as Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation or the Social Security Act. But given the current dire state of the economy we all need a new economic model as capitalism has not been equitable for all and has left nearly everyone poorer than before. The question now becomes given the social, cultural, scientific, and technological advances that have occurred since Washington, how can we use his ability to create a sustainable nation to now rebuild the moral, social, psychological, cultural, and agricultural state of this nation before it all collapses?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
